Review

This novel is cleaved into two parts/stories: Adam Roberts present (and his struggles) and his past life. I really loved the way the character struggled, it made him three dimensional and the more he struggled and tried to find meaning, the more I wanted to see what came next for Adam. And then halfway through it goes to his past life. I liked the sweetness of Roselyn and Augustus’ relationship and the way the story developed, even if it was predictable. It was no surprise what was coming, but it was still so tragic. The story as a whole was mesmerizing and I would absolutely read the second one. However, the flow and the actual writing was severely lacking. Which was further compounded by the need for another thorough review of the punctuation, spelling, and grammar. The final nail in the four star coffin was the heavily modern language like “OK,” “being single,” and “Dropping the girls off” in the past life (set in the early 1800s).

A wonderfully drawn story with potential to be great with some polishing.
