The Gate Guardian’s Daughter Release!

The Gate Guardian’s Daughter releases today!

I’d like to thank Ellie for the Interview and review. I’d also like to thank Minx for the Review.  Make sure you follow their blogs! For anyone else who was kind enough to take on reviews and for the reviews that already came in (thanks Tabinda) I’d like to extend my appreciation.

Here is the synopsis:

The interplanetary gates require guardians and the reformed demon Malthael is one of them.

His adoptive daughter, Elisabeth, is special, but her dangerous ability hasn’t awoken yet. Malthael knows it will one day and from then on her life will forever be altered. Malthael isolates her from outside world as much to protect everyone else as to safeguard her. It is all he can do to delay the inevitable.

Now that Elisabeth is ten, how long can Malthael keep her confined?

April – Not Much Time for Reviews

Hello my lovely followers! For those of you waiting for a review from me I’d like to start off by saying – I’m going slower then normal. April has been a crazy month for me. Not only is it my birthday month (yay me!), but I had a symposium where I was a vendor, I had a blog tour (thanks if you chimed in), and my husband is graduating. Woot! So real life has gotten in the way of my usually escapes into wonderful stories. (I don’t own the featured picture it is copyrighted by CB Lightworks but I’m somewhere in there and am posting it only to this blog.)

That being said, I’m still working on them and have a few lined up. Here is what is pending in order of my plan to read/review for my next 5 books:

The Fall of the Gods by Nicola Bagala – Finished just need to write a review.

The Secret of Sinbad’s Cave by Brydie Walker Bain – about 25% done.

Not Second Best by Christa Maurice – next in line and I’m looking forward to another romance.

They Mostly Come Out At Night by Benedict Patrick – Love this cover and concept!

The Gift-Knight’s Quest by Dylan Madeley – I am ready for some knights and their quests.

It is always first come first serve – I’ll update this with my next 5 after I finish more reading and more reviews!

I realized yesterday that I’ve started the 7th to last chapter of my Gate Trilogy. I can barely contain my excitement! I’m pretty sure I yelled “I can’t believe it!” I then proceeded to count it out 5 more times, which promptly lead me to start time-lining out the events for the 3rd and final book. I can’t believe in like 6 or so months I’ll finish writing this trilogy. My face hurts from smiling so much about it.

The Sixth Gate is due out sometime in 2017. It is going through editing by someone who doesn’t have my name and then I’ll post my first chapter up here for your viewing pleasure.

Frost Burn

For the next week Frost Burn will continue to be free on Kindle Unlimited. If we get enough interest and reads we may leave it up longer – if not I’ll be taking it down off of Kindle Unlimited and putting it back up on Smashwords.

Unfathomable Chance will come back from the beta readers this month! I’m just out 2 of them. After that it is off to the professional editor! I’m also working on the cover art. I’m hoping to do a cover announcement in June! Check it out here:

New Year Update – A little late…

Things have been absolutely nuts for me. I accepted a big promotion back in November and there have been so many things to fix and get a handle on. Writing and my blog posts have been worked on whenever I am not bone tired from work (which wasn’t much these last 3 months). That being said here are some updates:

Frost Burn

This beautiful book is finally done. I am so excited to report that it was released the last day of 2015 – December 31st. It is up everywhere and only $0.99 on kindle. We’ve already got some great reviews up and I’m happy to report they are all 3 stars or more!

You can read the first part for #free on #wattpad. Just click on this link: Frost Burn

Love’s Metamorphosis

I’ve completely put this novella up on Wattpad. I won’t be posting about this anymore since it is #complete. It was such fun to put something up for free that wouldn’t have gone anywhere else. I am debating right now what my next Wattpad story should be. ^_^

In Progress Book – The Gate Trilogy

Continued work in progress of the second book. I am happily over 40,000 words in and am about halfway through give or take. For those of you who actually read these posts you’ll notice a change – this is no longer going to be two books but 3. These books have an absolute life of their own and are demanding to be a trilogy. This started off being one book…but then I had a whole plot come to life for a 2nd book and about 35,000 words in to book 2 I realized that the way it was going to end leads directly into a 3rd book. So now I’m half way through book 2 and making notes on what book 3 will look like!

Happy to report that I’ve made progress (mostly in the last 2 weeks) on editing book 1. The Sixth Gate will come out sometime in 2017. I’ll post chapters as they get edited in the next few months or so.

Unfathomable Chance

I’ve settled on a final publish date for Unfathomable Chance – it will be September 2016. It is undergoing final rewrites and beta reading. I’m working with an illustrator to get a cover done for this now that I know exactly what I want. Stay tuned for a posting on the cover reveal!

Unfathomable Chance is a Young Adult Urban Fantasy. You can check out the tentative summary (rewriting that now as well) and one of the chapters here: Unfathomable Chance

Honest Hearts Collection – An Honest Intent (tentative name)

I’m still writing on my second book for the romance collection. These are historical novels across the ages all about romance and overcoming obstacles to make it happen. This is the second book in my planned Honest Hearts Collection. I’ve already started plotting out an outline for the 3rd book.

An Honest Intent (tentative name) is my  more tragic story of the 3 I have planned. It follows Abigail, a young girl who is sold by her greedy uncle for her excellent breeding to a rich merchant. Having to pretend to be something she is not, Abigail is torn between the freedom marriage gets her and the constraints of her own lies. Abigail knew everything she was doing is a risk but she doesn’t expect that she is also risking her heart. This is a bittersweet story of love, betrayal, and being honest with ones heart.

Taking on Reviews

I’ve started reviewing books for my fellow indie authors. Have had some great ones and some okay ones and some not so great ones…but hope to do tons more! You can find my review guidelines: Here.

Reviews done recently:

Gaylord, Adam – Sol of the Coliseum (Fantasy) (Review) (Amazon) (4 stars)

Lopez, Sandra – Beyond the Gardens (Romance) (Review) (Amazon) (2 stars)

Miller, R.G. – The Twins (Mystery) (Review) (Amazon) (3 stars)

Thorpe, Marian – Empire’s Daughter (YA Fantasy) (Review) (Amazon) (3 stars)

I also did a Wattpad book review. Wattpad book reviews are on a completely different scale then published books. They don’t have as stringent requirements nor do I have as ‘high’ expectations in regards to grammar and a polished feel. That being said I expect to be able to read it and still enjoy it as though I was reading a published book.

Uninvited by SheHopes – (Review) (Paranormal – 4.5 Stars)

Tuesday’s Child by Dale Mayer

What she doesn’t want…is exactly what he needs.

Shunned and ridiculed all her life for something she can’t control, Samantha Blair hides her psychic abilities and lives on the fringes of society. Against her will, however, she’s tapped into a killer—or rather, his victims. Each woman’s murder, blow-by-blow, ravages her mind until their death releases her back to her body. Sam knows she must go to the authorities, but will the rugged, no-nonsense detective in charge of tracking down the killer believe her?

Detective Brandt Sutherland only trusts hard evidence, yet Sam’s visions offer clues he needs to catch a killer. The more he learns about her incredible abilities, however, the clearer it becomes that Sam’s visions have put her in the killer’s line of fire. Now Brandt must save her from something he cannot see or understand…and risk losing his heart in the process.

As danger and desire collide, passion raises the stakes in a game Sam and Brandt don’t dare lose.

Sam seems like she is on her last leg from the moment this begins. It becomes clearer as you quickly realize the way her abilities work, the violent and graphic way in which she ‘experiences’ these crimes. She is an interesting character who doesn’t contradict herself very often but does enough that you don’t love her, just like her. I wish her actions spoke louder then her words, but I don’t think she is supposed to be a strong character now – I just hope she gets there throughout the series.

Brandt on the other hand seems to have an open mind about everything. He rolls with the punches but seems to constantly make promises he can’t keep. His character is the most believable when he is interacting with his mother. Who is a hoot by the way. He doesn’t make for the best detective but he seemed to genuinely care about what happens and that keeps things flowing.

These two characters are better together then they are apart but they are likable enough that you ignore some of their incongruous moments. Thankfully they get better as the book goes by and each one seems to grow a little. The story itself is what makes this book.

The psychic abilities taking a toll like they do. It was the most unique part of the book and by far the reason I kept reading in the beginning. The author’s ability to describe the deaths and the killer. That linked with what the detective sees after the fact really makes it eerie. She has a strength in setting a pace that keeps the thrills coming, while building characters so they get better over time instead of worse.

The author does an excellent job of setting the scene of the murders. There are enough little hints that kept me interested and wondering how parts were going to play out.

This was a solid book. The romance, and the mystery were well done. It could have been better but it was handled well enough that I enjoyed it. Despite the most annoying side character in history constantly causing problems in Brandt’s office seeming way over the top, I’d read the second book in this series.

My Rating

4 stars

It was good enough that I actually would recommend it. Despite a few flaws and some moments that felt forced it was a good book! At the end of the day, I liked it.

Where did I get it?

Wattpad – Free

Love Metamorphosis on Wattpad

I am excited to do a cover reveal for the new novella that is for free on Wattpad. The featured picture is my beautiful cover created by White Noise Graphics who has done many of my book covers. Her website is currently under construction, but you can contact her at

I wrote Love Metamorphosis years ago after reading an article about a woman who lost her husband-to-be on their wedding day. It moved me so much that I felt the urge to write an entire fictional story based solely on the idea of what a person would go through if the happiest day of their life suddenly became the worst. My immediate thought was I hope she choose to live and love again if the opportunity arose to marry someone else. Thus Love Metamorphosis was born. After years of gathering proverbial dust, I decided to get a nice cover made and share this novella with everyone.

On that note, I’ll be posting a new chapter every day until the entire book is posted. For those of you who want a taste here is the back of the book and the link to chapter 1 on wattpad.

Back of the book:

Life can change so unexpectedly.

One moment it was going to be the happiest day of Jemma Turner's life. Then the next moment she is standing in her wedding dress in the hospital and they are telling her she is a widow before she can become a wife. Trying to live with reality she starts working again as a child psychologist, taking on cases and trying to remember what normal might be without the love of her life.

That is until Eric McManis, a new friend, needs her help and her expertise. Jemma knew she cared for him but begins to notice an attraction in such close quarters. Unsure if she wants a second chance at love, Jemma struggles with growing feelings. She isn't sure if there can be two great loves in one life but she has a feeling if she does Eric just might be the man for the job.

Happy Reading!

Updates! Rewriting, Editing, and Just Plain Writing!

I just realized I never titled this; in my defense my husband was calling me for dinner. So food.

I’ve been on business trips and down with the Flu but I am finally on the mend and determined to sneak an update in here!

Blog 2.0: An Author’s Take

I’ve been updating here and there as I watch movies but I haven’t sat down and actually watched a movie in over a month. So once winter sets in I’ll pick up the mantel again and expect more movie reviews.

Check them all out here: An Authors Take

1001 Islands

It is out!!!!!!!! I’ve had multiple reviews come in from some wonderful individuals on Amazon and Goodreads. I am also on Smashwords and Nook if that is your thing. You can check it out here:

No promises but I am drafting up an outline for a sequel. If the creative bug bites this might be my next project!

Frost Burn

Frost Burn is complete and was sent to our editor earlier this week. We are redesigning the cover to make it more fantasy like. I’ll post it on here once it is complete! We are still hoping to put it out by the end of this month, woo October!

You can read the first part for #free on #wattpad. Just click on this link: Frost Burn

Love’s Metamorphosis

This book is ready to put up on Wattpad. I am just waiting on a cover to accompany it. Expect it before the end of the year. I’ll only post on this again once it is up and running on Wattpad.

In Progress Book – The Gate Doulogy

Continued work in progress of the second book. I am now 20,000 words in and feeling about 1/4 of the way through what I want to do. It is taking a while to get all of the kinks in the beginning hammered out but well on my way to getting to the good stuff!

Haha! I have edited 6 whole chapters of the first book. My goal is to do 3 more this weekend. I have been neglecting this one and it needs to be done. I am hoping if I keep posting I’ll do more on here that I’ll actually do more. Social motivation and all that.

Unfathomable Chance

I am happy to announce that my next book coming out next year is already decided and more importantly written! I’ve decided that after 3 fantasy books I’m going to put out something of a different genre. Unfathomable Chance is a Young Adult Urban Fantasy. You can check out the tentative summary and one of the chapters here: Unfathomable Chance

Zendar: A Tale of Blood and Sand

My second published book has undergone a rewrite and professional edit. I used Patterson Proofreading for a professional edit. She is great at balancing praise and critiques when going through a manuscript. You can find her here:

I’ve also rewritten the back of the book to make it more about the characters because the book is more about the characters. The new Back of the Book:

Blood is how it all began, and only by blood can it end. Chaos has reigned in Zendar for years since the rise of the seven Bloodlines. The Liege Aleron Corvinus ruthlessly seeks revenge for the mistreatment of his ancestors. His ambitions will only be sated when he claims the world under his family’s name; he will only stop when all of Zendar is his and the other six Bloodlines pay their weight in blood.

Azel Undel was born into this world of blood and sand. She is of a dying Bloodline, a feared one, but most coveted. Promised, in exchange for money, to a man she had never known; Azel travels across Zendar. Her ship is attacked and she alone survives, setting the wheels of fate in motion. She did not expect to become her enemy’s captive or that he would demand her submission to him.

Loyalties are tested, secrets are uncovered, and Azel will have to make a choice: remain loyal to her family and everything she ever stood for or be loyal to her own heart.

It should be up any day now but I am not going to raise the price of the book. I am going to leave this at 99 cents and even have a sale of it over the next few weeks. This is like my gateway book. If you like this book you will like all of my books. Kind of like a gateway drug but for reading.

Stay posted!
