It warms my heart to see my book being added to this awesome system. I hope whoever picks it up, loves it and returns it back to the system for others to enjoy!

Release of Lights Fall by Nichelle Rae

I am excited to announce that Nichelle Rae is coming out with a new book. I had the pleasure of reading this book while it was an unpolished gem and I’m excited to announce its release after 2 1/2 years of hard labor.

To celebrate this release our coauthored book, Frost Burn, will be free for two days! Check it out HERE.

Here is the back of the book:

Special Agent Bay Kennedy hunts sex offenders. She credits her unusual abilities as to why she is the best Chicago has to offer – enhanced strength and speed among other things – and she only sleeps once a week.

Her reality is challenged when she’s attacked in her apartment by a malicious creature. Saved by four strangers, Bay soon learns that she has more in common with these supernatural beings than she thinks.

Her rescuers ask Bay to help them keep an ancient evil imprisoned. But her ideals are spurned when she must enter the criminal underground of drug smuggling, weapons exchange, and prostitution.

The five of them have the power to save the world, but can an FBI Agent reconcile working in the criminal underground?

Sounds Fantastic? I agree. So go check it out HERE.

Winter is coming…and NaNoWriMo is here!

Winter is coming…nope it is already here in the form of RAIN!

Reviews

Here is what is pending in order of my plan to read/review for my next few books:

  • The Faraway North by Ian Cumpstey – Finished ,need to write a review
  • The Martian by Andy Weir – Finished, need to write a review
  • The Golden Spider (The Elemental Web Chronicles, Book One) by Anne Renwick – Finished reading today, need to write a review
  • A Sense of Discovery by Martin Perks – Just started reading this
  • Confronting Destiny (Aetherheart Book 1) by A.L. Tesh – I’m reading this book on my iPad as I have time
  • Two Heirs (The Marmoros Trilogy: Book 1) by Peter Kenson – Being read by a guest reviewer
  • Above the Ether by Yemisi Aremu Otasanya – Next book up in my queue

I am really behind in writing reviews. I had a tough one that I was waffling on the star rating for and it put me behind. Tomorrow I hope to get back on track and get two posted over the weekend!

Writing

I’m over 40,000 words into the final book in my trilogy. I am still calling it ‘The Last Gate’ right now but it may change to ‘The Final Gate’ or something similar. The Sixth Gate now has a release date of July 7, 2017. Woot, woot!

I’ve also started a super secret project. Mwahahahaha. It is a Supernatural Crime Novel set in dun-dun-dun, Alaska. When I dad reads this he is going to freak out because he has been asking me to do something set in Alaska for YEARS. I only have 4,000 words written but I’m still forming the full outline and idea…and I’m finishing up my trilogy so I’m sure this will start rolling out!

NaNoWriMo

National Novel Writing Month has started! My goal is 30,000 words, same as last year…and I’m failing already. I was hoping to get half way by this point and I’m just not there. I breached 10,000 words today (yay!) but I’m still about 4,000 behind on where I wanted to be. I’m not too worried about it, but I really want to hit that 30,000 word goal because that will get me really close to finishing The Last Gate.

Movies: Dr. Strange and The Accountant

If you like movies, like I do, I have been very lucky this month. The Accountant is one of the best movies I’ve seen this year! Basically the Bourne series meets Usual Suspects. I was blown away, and I’ve decided best Ben Affleck movie ever. If you like action movies that make you think and have plot twists, this movie is a masterpiece!

I saw Dr. Strange last night and laughed…a lot. This movie was witty and dark, all at the same time. I absolutely loved it. Among the superhero movies as of late, this one really stands apart. It has a different feel to it and well worth the watch. I think it was because the main characters were so different, so flawed, but reaching for goodness…eventually.

New Book Announcement – The Sixth Gate (The Gate Trilogy Book #1)

Lots of updates! The biggest one being a date has finally been set for the release of my newest novel. The Sixth Gate is a Young Adult Dark Fantasy coming out next year. It was written for one of my closes friends (practically a sister) and was supposed to be only one book…

Now it is a trilogy. I’m halfway through writing the last book (unnamed at this time) but am happy to announce the release date of the first book in the trilogy. Drum roll please!

The Sixth Gate will be released on July 7, 2017.

I hope to have a cover reveal soon! Stay posted for more updates on this. In the mean time here is more information to include the draft synopsis and sample chapters: The Sixth Gate.

NaNoWriMo

I can’t believe I started writing The Sixth Gate 2 years ago for NaNoWriMo 2014 and for this NaNoWriMo will be working on the second half of the last book in the trilogy. Seems like a nice swing around. I’m about 33,000 words through the last book, I’m working towards a round 35,000 to start NaNoWriMo next month! Excited!

My goal this year is 30,000 words which should get me very close to the end of the last book! Woot goals!

Upcoming Events

I’m very excited to announce I have tons of events coming up in the coming weeks. Mostly craft fairs but I do have a book signing on November 19th! I’ll be at Fireside Books in Palmer, AK doing book signings of Unfathomable Chance. I’ve also booked Alaska Steamposium which is next April. So EXCITED! This is my second year doing Steamposium and I hope I get to be a guest presenter next year as well. More excitedly is my coauthor for Frost Burn might be coming up to Alaska to do Steamposium with me! Which would be amazing.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Frost Burn by K.T. Munson & Nichelle Rae

I am happy to announce the completion of Frost Burn. It has been a year-long road to completion and the final product is finally here. We had a few set backs but we still finished before 2015 became 2016. It is currently available for pre-order and releases on December 31, 2015.

Summary:

Fire and Frost; no two nations have ever been so divided. Only two bridges across the great River Gora connects them and their long standing hatred. When spring comes early the Frost Nation looks upon the Fire Nation with suspicion. Soon they will discover that the rising rivers, warmer temperatures, and the quakes are all a result of something far more terrifying then each other. When the world seems to turn against them they will only have each other to look to. Can they put their differences aside long enough to fix their planet?

They must or face extinction.

Coauthors:

This book is coauthored. Not the first time you’ve heard that a book has been coauthored for sure. I know a great vampire series that is a husband and wife team, and I know a pair of sisters that write romances. What makes this special? We’ve never met.

What?

That’s right, we have never met in person. I hope one day we can. One of us can travel across country and see the other person but not yet. Everything was done over Skype, phone, and email. And Google Hangouts – can’t forget that wonderful tool! Thank goodness for the magic of the technology era!

That being said – Frost Burn is an amazing accumulation of two minds coming together. We used our different strengths, from world-building to meticulous revising skills. The result? An epic fantasy that has knights and queens, fire and frost, action and romance. A little bit for everyone.

Where can I get one?

Good thing you asked! We have the eBook for sale for $0.99 at Amazon and Smashwords. Don’t like the digital version? Go and see the printed version – which should go live on 12/31/2015.

Tuesday’s Child by Dale Mayer

Summary

What she doesn’t want…is exactly what he needs.

Shunned and ridiculed all her life for something she can’t control, Samantha Blair hides her psychic abilities and lives on the fringes of society. Against her will, however, she’s tapped into a killer—or rather, his victims. Each woman’s murder, blow-by-blow, ravages her mind until their death releases her back to her body. Sam knows she must go to the authorities, but will the rugged, no-nonsense detective in charge of tracking down the killer believe her?

Detective Brandt Sutherland only trusts hard evidence, yet Sam’s visions offer clues he needs to catch a killer. The more he learns about her incredible abilities, however, the clearer it becomes that Sam’s visions have put her in the killer’s line of fire. Now Brandt must save her from something he cannot see or understand…and risk losing his heart in the process.

As danger and desire collide, passion raises the stakes in a game Sam and Brandt don’t dare lose.

Characters

Sam seems like she is on her last leg from the moment this begins. It becomes clearer as you quickly realize the way her abilities work, the violent and graphic way in which she ‘experiences’ these crimes. She is an interesting character who doesn’t contradict herself very often but does enough that you don’t love her, just like her. I wish her actions spoke louder then her words, but I don’t think she is supposed to be a strong character now – I just hope she gets there throughout the series.

Brandt on the other hand seems to have an open mind about everything. He rolls with the punches but seems to constantly make promises he can’t keep. His character is the most believable when he is interacting with his mother. Who is a hoot by the way. He doesn’t make for the best detective but he seemed to genuinely care about what happens and that keeps things flowing.

These two characters are better together then they are apart but they are likable enough that you ignore some of their incongruous moments. Thankfully they get better as the book goes by and each one seems to grow a little. The story itself is what makes this book.

Plot

The psychic abilities taking a toll like they do. It was the most unique part of the book and by far the reason I kept reading in the beginning. The author’s ability to describe the deaths and the killer. That linked with what the detective sees after the fact really makes it eerie. She has a strength in setting a pace that keeps the thrills coming, while building characters so they get better over time instead of worse.

The author does an excellent job of setting the scene of the murders. There are enough little hints that kept me interested and wondering how parts were going to play out.

Overall

This was a solid book. The romance, and the mystery were well done. It could have been better but it was handled well enough that I enjoyed it. Despite the most annoying side character in history constantly causing problems in Brandt’s office seeming way over the top, I’d read the second book in this series.

My Rating

4 stars

It was good enough that I actually would recommend it. Despite a few flaws and some moments that felt forced it was a good book! At the end of the day, I liked it.
